Classics day
Recap

On December 1st of 2022, hundreds of classical studies students and JCLers from across the state convened at Boston University for the annual MassJCL Classics Day to learn about the classics and participate in workshops led by professors, graduate students, and other speakers.

The theme for this year’s Classics Day was “A Day in the Life,” with a focus on the historically marginalized communities in the ancient Mediterranean world that are often not discussed in the traditional classroom.

A special thank you goes out to the Boston University faculty and staff, especially Professor Uden, chair of the BU Classics Department, for hosting this year's event. Thank you also to the participating schools and students, as well as the speakers who offered their time and insight at our Classics Day workshops.

Congratulations to Boston Latin School, the winners of the Classics Day School Skit, who will be awarded extra points towards state convention.

In other news, Coin Wars is here! Introduced at Classics Day, Coin Wars is an annual fundraising contest between your MassJCL officers. The officer with the most money raised for their charity of choice will get to donate all funds to that charity. See below for a list of officers and the groups for which they are raising money.   Money will be collected throughout the year at all MassJCL events, so be sure to bring spare change to make donations! The winner will be announced at this spring's State Convention, and the winner will complete a silly punishment as determined by a poll on the MassJCL Instagram.
